One of these celebrations is the Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun, celebrated in homage to the supreme god of the Incas, the Sun God. Always held on the winter solstice, June 24th, it is a historical-religious event that takes place in the city of Cusco, passing through various tourist sites.

DAY 1 06/22 - Arrival in Cusco

Arrival and reception at Cusco airport - Transfer to hotel

  • Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
  • Famous Coca tea to help with acclimatization.
  • Check-in and explanation of tourist attractions with a city map.
  • Free afternoon and evening to rest and explore.

Optional visit: Presentation of typical Andean songs and dances at the Qosqo Center of Native Art (6:30 PM to 8:00 PM). Entrance included in the package.

DAY 2 06/23 - City Tour in Cusco

City Tour - Qoricancha, Cathedral, Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay

  • 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM - Walk through the historic center with local guide (free service for Inka Rainbow clients).
  • Afternoon - Archaeological City Tour: Cusco Cathedral, Baroque style of the Cusco School.
  • Visit to Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), main place of worship to the Sun God.
  • Tour of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay (the famous Inca shower).
  • Return to Cusco approximately at 6:00 PM.

DAY 3 06/24 - Festival of the Sun - Inti Raymi

Main ceremony of the Incas with box Lunch

  • Day of homage to the supreme god, the Sun.
  • The procession begins at Qoricancha, passes through the Plaza de Armas and arrives at Sacsayhuamán for the main ceremony.
  • Participation in religious acts, offerings and traditional dances.
  • Andean foods and typical drinks during the festivities.
  • Return to the hotel to rest.

DAY 4 06/25 - Sacred Valley of the Incas

Awanacancha, Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes

  • Visit to the Awanacancha textile museum.
  • Taray viewpoint for panoramic view of the Sacred Valley.
  • Pisac Archaeological Center and Artisan Market.
  • Lunch in Urubamba.
  • Visit to Ollantaytambo, the last living Inca town.
  • Train to Aguas Calientes and transfer to the hotel.

DAY 5 06/26 - Machu Picchu (Private guided tour)

  • Transfer to the bus to go up to the Machu Picchu citadel.

What is Inti Raymi?

Inti Raymi or "Festival of the Sun" is the most important ceremony of the Inca Empire, celebrated in honor of the Sun God (Inti). How do I prepare for the altitude in Cusco?

We recommend arriving at least one day in advance to acclimatize. Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals, and drink coca tea. The coca tea we offer upon arrival helps alleviate altitude sickness symptoms. Our itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatization.

Yes, but it requires advance reservation (minimum 3-4 months in advance) because spaces are limited. It has an additional cost. Consult us at the time of booking to check availability.

What happens if it rains during the tour?

The tour operates under any weather conditions. In case of rain, we provide rain ponchos and adapt activities as needed. Machu Picchu is especially mystical in the rain, with clouds surrounding the mountains.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations more than 60 days in advance: 90% refund. Between 30-60 days: 70% refund. Between 15-30 days: 50% refund. Less than 15 days: no refund. We recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers cancellations.
